Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Cape Town this morning, 25 June 2008.
Cabinet noted the latest developments in Zimbabwe. The South African Government is extremely concerned about the violence taking place in Zimbabwe and affirms its position in support of the United Nations Security Resolution which condemns violence.

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Cape Town yesterday, 11 June 2008.
The Inter-Ministerial Task Team reported on the latest developments regarding the attacks on foreign nationals. The report indicated that a total of 62 people lost their lives during the senseless violence. 21 of the 62 people who died were South Africans. The majority of the deaths (53) were in Gauteng.

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Cape Town yesterday, 28 May 2008.
Cabinet received a report from the Inter-Ministerial Task Team on the violence against foreign nationals in some parts of the country. The task team has now been constituted as a Joint Task Team with the Gauteng Provincial Government.

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Cape Town yesterday, 14 May 2008.
The meeting discussed the recent violent attacks on foreign nationals in Alexandra and other parts of the country. Cabinet condemns these acts of violence in the strongest possible terms and calls on our communities to be vigilant and to avoid being manipulated by provocateurs who seek to exploit people’s fears and concerns.

Cabinet held its ordinary meeting in Cape Town this morning, 20 February 2008.
The meeting was briefed on the 2008/9 budget. The details thereof are contained in the Minister of Finance’s speech as delivered in Parliament on 20 February 2008.
Cabinet noted that the Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, has announced his decision to step down as President of the State Council of Cuba. Cabinet expressed its best wishes to the Cuban leader and wished him a long and restful retirement.
