The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) provides strategic communication leadership and support in government communications to all of government and leads government communication through submitting a National Communication Strategy to Cabinet.

Strategic communication services, guidance, support and products are provided to government, the media and the public.

Strategic support: The GCIS provides strategic leadership and support with regard to planning and managing communication campaigns, communication research, advertising and media placement, marketing strategies, corporate identity management, design and exhibitions. The GCIS also assists in the distribution of government statements, documents and print products and media liaison. 

Products: The GCIS provides media monitoring, photographic, radio and video production services to government. The GCIS also maintains a database of contact information and profiles of government role-players.

  • Media. The media sector can read more about the GCIS's support with the accreditation of foreign journalists, arranging access to government officials, SANews, media enquiries and providing government and Southern African Development Community (SADC)-related information. The GCIS also maintains a database of contact information and profiles of government role-players.
  • Public. The GCIS maintains a database of contact information (directories) and profiles of government role-players and provide an information enquiry service where government and government-related information can be obtained.
