Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela and the Minister of Communications, Hon. Faith Muthambi, MP met in Pretoria on Wednesday, 20 August 2014.
The meeting was in connection with the investigation into the alleged irregular appointment of Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng as permanent Chief Operations Officer of the SABC as well as other matters of mutual concern.

The Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will be visiting Mpumalanga over a period of two days as part of Imbizo programme. The outreach programme will kick start with a stakeholder engagement session with local government communicators, community media and members of state owned companies.

Government reiterates that South Africa remains the destination of choice for tourism, despite a report in the media which stated that the industry had become the first victim of Ebola.
No cases of the Ebola virus have been reported in the country, and government is confident of the systems and protocols that are in place to address any incidence of the virus.

Government wishes to advise the members of the media about the planned media briefings for the coming week of the 18 – 24 August.
Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene and Land Bank acting CEO Lindiwe Mdlalose will brief the media on the financial performance of the Bank and other issues on 18 August. The briefing will take place at the DBSA, Auditorium in Midrand at 9:00.

This visit follows as a continuation of constant engagements with communities and stakeholders that took place during the Imbizo Focus Week between 14 – 20 July 2014.
