The new Communications Ministry was established after the Cabinet announcement by the President last month.

Introductions will be made and the Minister will make brief remarks and do a picture opportunity.

Please receive my deepest condolences. Gone from our sight, but someone so special can never be forgotten from our hearts. His greatest joy was making others happy.  He will be on our mind and in our heart today and always.

Eddie was a personal friend and I knew him quite well as we would engage in broadcasting challenges and roles of DJ’s in the sector. Topics would include community development and especially rural community.

For me it is a great loss, I will sadly miss Eddie.

Government has conveyed its deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Metro FM Disc Jockey and radio legend, Eddie Makhosonke Zondi.

Zondi died early this morning after suffering a heart attack. He was 47.

GCIS Acting CEO, Phumla Williams said, “It is indeed a sad day for the people of South Africa to have lost a man whose music will forever be engraved in our hearts. He will be sadly missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Government sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the five people, including three children, who died in a shack fire in Vlakfontein, Johannesburg early this morning. 
Acting GCIS CEO, Phumla Williams said, “This is an unfortunate incident that should not have happened. As we enter into the winter season, government calls on all citizens to take precautionary measures when lighting fires.”

Government calls on all South Africans to commemorate Youth Month, under the theme ,“Youth moving South Africa forward”. 

Today, the National Youth Development Agency will officially launch Youth Month at the Uncle Tom’s Hall and Hector Pieterson Museum, Orlando West, Soweto. The launch, which will be followed by month-long activities and programmes, will be addressed by the Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe and his deputy Buti Manamela and Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthetwa.
