Government will embark on the National Imbizo Focus Week from the 30th November to 6th December 2015 to engage with communities and various stakeholders. Izimbizo are a two-way unmediated and interactive information sharing platforms, a dialogue between government and people giving credence to a participatory democracy.

1.1. Cabinet commends the progress made by the Department of Human Settlements in the Savanna City Integrated Human Settlements project in the Sedibeng District Municipality.
Completion of the sustainable and integrated, new town development project, in ten years, will provide 18 399 Integrated housing units which include “Breaking New Ground Houses” and bonded houses, educational facilities, clinics, crèches, churches and retail sites

Government condemns unlawful housing of foreign nationals by Cato Ridge farmer

Government strongly condemns the decision of a Cato Ridge farmer near Durban in KwaZulu-Natal who has turned his dwelling into a refugee camp for about hundreds of foreign nationals without rezoning it into a residential area.

As much as government welcomes good deeds by communities to assist displaced communities, it is important for those assisting not to transgress the laws and municipal by-laws as it is the case with the farmer in Mkhambathini Local Municipality.
