Government will embark on the National Imbizo Focus Week from the 30th November to 6th December 2015 to engage with communities and various stakeholders. Izimbizo are a two-way unmediated and interactive information sharing platforms, a dialogue between government and people giving credence to a participatory democracy.

Minister of Communications Faith Muthambi will open the National Imbizo Focus Week on Monday 30th November 2015 in Lephalale, Limpopo. The primary aim of the National Imbizo Focus Week is to create an engaging and interactive information sharing platform between government and communities.

Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will deliver a keynote address at the 2nd Annual Alfred Nzo communications and media awards on Friday, 27th November 2015 at Maluti Civic Centre, Matatiele, Eastern Cape. The 2nd Annual Alfred Nzo District Municipality Communicators and Media Awards event is aimed at recognizing and encouraging excellence in the district communications’ system, build and strengthening relations with the media.

Government welcomes the 2014/15 financial year audit results released yesterday by the Auditor-General (AG). The outcome shows a general improvement from the 2013/14 financial year audit results, especially from the national departments.

The National World AIDS Day 2015 will be commemorated at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre, Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal under the theme “Towards an HIV-free generation, Rise. Act. Protect”. This year’s World AIDS Day will celebrate and acknowledge the vital role communities have played towards achieving the long term vision of the National Strategic Plan on HIV, STIs and TB, 2012–2016 (NSP).

1. Implementation of key government programmes
1.1. Cabinet commends the progress made by the Department of Human Settlements in the Savanna City Integrated Human Settlements project in the Sedibeng District Municipality.
Completion of the sustainable and integrated, new town development project, in ten years, will provide 18 399 Integrated housing units which include “Breaking New Ground Houses” and bonded houses, educational facilities, clinics, crèches, churches and retail sites

Government strongly condemns the decision of a Cato Ridge farmer near Durban in KwaZulu-Natal who has turned his dwelling into a refugee camp for about hundreds of foreign nationals without rezoning it into a residential area.
As much as government welcomes good deeds by communities to assist displaced communities, it is important for those assisting not to transgress the laws and municipal by-laws as it is the case with the farmer in Mkhambathini Local Municipality.
