Operation Fiela reclaim

Government has noted the article in the Sunday newspaper reporting on a transcript suggesting police “grapple with how to spin the anti-crime drive Operation Fiela to avoid criticism of the way it targeted foreigners”.  The Inter-ministerial Committee (IMC) on Migration leading the work of Operation Fiela – Reclaim re-iterates the purpose of Operation Fiela Reclaim.

Government calls for vigilance on country’s roads

As South Africa commemorates the month of October as Transport Month, government calls on all road-users to exercise caution on the roads and obey traffic rules. Under the theme ‘Together we move South Africa forward’, road safety continues to remain one of the government’s priorities.

Government is aware that road accidents take a massive toll on society and calls on road users including pedestrians to be more vigilant as the festive season approaches.

Government commends all citizens for promoting and embracing the diversified unique culture during Heritage Month 2015.

Government adopted the Heritage Month campaign as a vehicle to promote social cohesion and develop a common national identity. The theme for this year focused on celebrating indigenous knowledge, identifying, promoting and preserving South Africa’s living heritage.

1.    Implementation of key government programmes

1.1.        Cabinet welcomed the launch of the seventh edition of the Development Indicators (2014) on 20 September 2015, which presented an update on the state of South Africa’s development. The indicators create a better understanding of the impact of various government policies and service-delivery initiatives on the country’s development.
