Members of the media who have applied for accreditation to cover the inaugural South Africa Investment Conference (SAIC) are invited to collect their media badges at the Sandton Convention Centre. Please note that the accreditation is live therefore, members of the media are required to present themselves individually at the accreditation point.
Government has scheduled the following briefings/activities for the week: 22 - 28 October 2018. The activities, which are aligned to the National Development Plan and outlined in the Medium Term Strategic Framework 2014-2019, are undertaken to build a better South Africa.

Government today joins South Africa’s media in commemorating the anniversary of Media Freedom Day also known as Black Wednesday. On October 19, 1977, South Africa's apartheid government banned three publications and outlawed 17 anti-apartheid groups during the one-day crackdown, which came to be known as Black Wednesday.
Government will on Sunday, 21 October 2018 celebrate what would’ve been MaSisulu’s 100th Birthday under the theme: Albertina Sisulu “A woman of fortitude”.

I am pleased to announce that President Cyril Ramaphosa will be hosting the inaugural South Africa Investment Conference on 25-27 October 2018. The theme of the conference is ‘Accelerating Growth by Building Partnerships’.
The Investment Conference follows a commitment made by the President during the State of the Nation Address in February this year. The aim of the conference is to market the compelling investment opportunities in our country so as to encourage investments and create jobs.
The Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on the South African Investment Conference, Minister of Economic Development, Hon. Ebrahim Patel and Ms. Trudi Makhaya, President’s Economic Advisor will host a media briefing on preparations for hosting the South Africa Investment Conference, which is scheduled for 25-27 October 2018 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Government calls on all media who wish to cover the National Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Femicide Summit to apply for accreditation. The Summit will take place on 1 and 2 November 2018 at Saint George Hotel and Conference Centre in Centurion, Pretoria.

The IMC on the Revitalisation of Distressed Mining Communities met in Pretoria on 16 October 2018 to assess progress in addressing the developmental challenges in mining towns and labour-sending areas. The IMC, chaired by Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, is mandated to achieve integrated and sustainable human settlements, improve the living and working conditions of mineworkers, and health of mining communities, and advance the socio-economic development of mining towns.

The 2018 National Senior Certificate final examinations commence today Monday, 15 October with 37 340 Grade 12 learners across the country sitting for the first paper of Computer Applications Technology.
