Government has learned with sadness of the passing away of liberation struggle stalwart and recipient of the National Order of Mendi for Bravery in Silver Eric “Staling” Mtshali.
Mtshali died in Hospital on Friday after a long illness. He was 87.
Cabinet met on Wednesday, 10 October 2018 at Tuynhuys in Cape Town.

The official funeral service for the late Minister of the Department of Environmental Affairs, Dr Bomo Edith Edna Molewa will take place at the Tshwane Events Centre in Pretoria West on 06th October 2018. In line with the declaration as made by the state President, President Cyril Ramaphosa that the funeral will be a Special Category 1 funeral and the South African national flag has been flying at half-mast at all flag stations countrywide until her funeral on October 6.
Members of the media who have applied to cover the Jobs Summit are advised that the accreditation centre will continue operating tomorrow before the formal proceedings from 08:00am till 12:00 at Gallagher Convention Centre, Hall 1- Office 2. Identity Document (ID, Passport or Driver’s License) and press card or letter from the editor will be required for collection of the accreditation.

Government welcomes the sentences handed to the so-called Springs monster and his estranged wife in the North Gauteng High Court today.
The father was found guilty of the attempted murder of his son, child abuse and neglect, using and dealing in drugs and of the rape of his then 16-year-old daughter.
He was sentenced to an effective 35 years imprisonment while the wife received a suspended sentence.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on State Funerals met on the 1st of October 2018 and deliberated on arrangements for the memorial, funeral service and burial of Dr Edna Molewa.
The IMC noted that preparations are at an advanced stage and wishes to update the country as follows:

Government continues to forge ahead in mobilizing society to assist victims of gender based violence. GCIS recently conducted an inspection of 57 Thuthuzela Care Centres across the nine provinces to conduct a needs analysis per center and identify how corporates and civil society can better equip them with basic provisions such as sanitary wear and toys for children.
