The SADC Media Awards are open to journalists from the SADC Member States. The first prize winners will receive their prizes and certificates on the margins of the 42nd SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.
Thank you members of the media for joining us this morning, on the Day of Reconciliation. A few years ago the democratic government renamed this day to foster reconciliation and social cohesion in a country that was once segregated along racial lines under the then apartheid system.

South Africa moves to second gear in tackling GBVF collaboratively
In the past few months, the South African Government, together with partners including the private sector, trade unions and individuals from civil society and other development partners have been working hard to implement the National Strategic Plan (NSP) on Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF). This plan came as a result of the 1st National Summit on GBVF in South Africa in 2018.

At the conclusion of the 16 Days campaign for No Violence against Women and Children, Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Pinky Kekana will lead a dialogue on the importance of community involvement and accountability in the fight against gender-based violence and Femicide (GBVF). The dialogue will take place on Thursday, 9th December 2021 at Harry Gwala Multi-Purpose Centre in Sasolburg.
