Government condemns prevention to access healthcare services
Government condemns the actions of some citizens who have been preventing people from accessing healthcare services at Kalafong Hospital, in Attridgeville, based on the colour of their skin and the language spoken.
These actions by a few are infringing on basic human rights. They go against the tenets of our hard fought for democracy.

Government welcomes the quarterly labour force survey results which show a slight but significant decrease in the rate of unemployment in the country. In terms of the latest data the official unemployment rate decreased by 0.6% from 34.5% in the first quarter of 2022 to 33.9% in the second quarter.

Government welcomes Quarter One Crime Statistics
Government welcomes the 2022/2023 quarter one crime statistics released earlier today that show a decrease in the total number of Sexual Offences such as rape, sexual assault, attempted sexual offences and contact sexual offences. However, government acknowledges that a lot still needs to be done to intensify efforts to fight crime even further in the country, especially because the number of murders remain high.

1.2. In supporting the energy grid and helping our country through its constrained electricity supply, we need to reduce our nation’s energy consumption by 600 megawatts over the next three months.

Government commemorates the Marikana tragedy
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the tragedy that happened around Lonmin Platinum Mine in Marikana in North West province on 16 August 2012, which claimed the lives of miners, security guards, and members of the South African Police Service (SAPS). Government joins the families, friends and South Africans in remembering those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
