The South African government will on Sunday 16 November 2014 host a formal reception ceremony at the Air Force Base Waterkloof to receive the mortal remains of South Africans who passed away during the Nigerian guesthouse building collapse on 16 September 2014.

SA repatriation team heads to Nigeria

The Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will participate at the Global Mentoring Walk hosted by The Passionate Professional – a Leadership Incubator founded by Hema Vallabh, an alumna of the Fortune Global Women’s Mentoring Program, who brought the initiative to South Africa for the very first time in 2013.

On 11 November the Special Envoy on the Nigeria Tragedy and Minister in the Presidency, Mr Jeff Radebe announced that the official reception of the mortal remains of the victims of the Nigeria building collapse will take place on 16 November 2014 at the Waterkloof Airforce Base in Pretoria.
The Government of the Republic of South Africa hereby announces the following media arrangements for the inauguration:

The Special Envoy to Nigeria Minister Jeff Radebe will brief members of the media on the final repatriation plan of the victims of the Nigeria building collapse.
This is part of government’s commitment to keep the South African and Nigerian public informed of the repatriation process of the mortal remains of compatriots who perished at the Synagogue Church of All Nations building collapse.
The details of the briefing are as follows:

Minister of Communications, Ms Faith Muthambi, will today answer Oral Questions in the National Council of Provinces.
The questions are part of the Economic Cluster 4 and replies will focus on amongst others media independence and performance management of staff.

Members of the media are advised that the pre-accreditation online registration process is accessible on https://www.gcis.gov.za/content/media-registration. The deadline for the pre- accreditation process is Thursday, 13 November 2014 at 15h00.
