Minister Muthambi to launch Thusong Service Centre Week in Mamelodi: 14 Sept

The Minister of Communications, Ms Faith Muthambi will on Sunday, 14 September 2014 launch the Thusong Service Centre Week at Mamelodi in Pretoria.

The campaign which runs from Monday, 15th to Friday, 19th September 2014 is a week of heightened communication on the achievements of the Thusong Service Programme and it forms part of Public Service Month. .

Members of the media are invited to join Minister Muthambi as she does a walkabout at the Mamelodi Thusong Service Centre and interact with residents and public service beneficiaries.

The South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) will on 13 September 2014 host their annual national congress and gala dinner in Pretoria. The Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will be a guest speaker at the function. Her speech will be about “The Power within”.

The Council’s Business Women of the Year 2014 will also be announced as well as its new Presidency for 2015. The annual gala dinner and congress is a platform where women receive recognition, advanced training and network opportunities.

Minister of Communications Faith Muthambi has arrived at the first day of the World Economic Forum's 8th Annual Meeting of the Champions 2014. The "Summer Davos" Forum held in Tianjin, China from 10-12 September 2014 under the theme, “Creating Value through Innovation”.
South Africa is participating in this forum for benchmarking and sharing ideas around science, technology and innovation. The annual gathering will also look at issues of unemployment around the world and how it can be addressed.

Deputy Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will on Wednesday 10 September 2014 visit Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay, Bitou Municipality for a youth outreach programme. The Deputy Minister, in partnership with Land Bank and IT Master, will hand over computers to Murray High School. This initiative will enable the school and learners to join the information highway through access to information and learning resources.

South Africa takes the lead in Stockholm

Government congratulates the eThekwini Metro for scooping the Stockholm Industry Water Award and Professor John Briscoe of South Africa for receiving the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize. Government is equally proud of the learners from Taxila Secondary School in Polokwane, Limpopo who were finalists, at the global conference, against other learners across the globe for inventing a method that uses sand filters to treat contaminated water and recover water for reuse.
