Government wishes to advise members of the media about planned media briefings scheduled for the week of 08– 14 December 2014.
On Tuesday, 09 December at 11:30am, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, will brief the media on the outcomes of the recent State Visit to the People's Republic of China by President Jacob Zuma. The Minister will take questions on other current affairs matters. The briefing will be held at DIRCO media room, Rietondale, Pretoria.
Minister of Communications, Ms Faith Muthambi will be the key note speaker at the Soul Buddyz Club National Congress awards ceremony. The Minister will be recognizing the clubs outstanding performance, their partnership with SABC1 and its member’s dedication in becoming active citizens of the country, as it is called upon us by the National Development Plan.
Formed in 2002, the club, which now spans 6,000 children as active members in all nine provinces, evolved from the hugely successful SABC1 television series, Soul Buddyz.
Deputy Minister of Communications Stella Tembisa Ndabeni-Abrahams will lead a South African delegation to Dubai, UAE where Brand South Africa will host a networking session to position South Africa as a globally competitive destination that is open for business on Tuesday 9 December 2014.
The Deputy Minister will also interact with Global South Africans in the UAE on Monday 8 December 2014 during which she will brief them of developments in South Africa, especially as they relate to the country’s developmental agenda.

On 5 December 2014 South Africa will commemorate the first anniversary of former President Nelson Mandela’s passing. The South African Government encourages the public to: post photos, videos, stories, favourite quotes and pictures of themselves wearing a Mandela t-shirt on social media.

The Government has noted the release of Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index 2014 and the subsequent comments by Corruption Watch.
However, media coverage in particular the headline and story in The Times newspaper on the 3rd December 2014, misrepresents the report by suggesting that South Africa is at a point of no return with a sensational headline “SA in dodgy territory.”
