Government is saddened and shocked by the death of TV and radio personality Pearl Shongwe and extends its deepest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues in the media industry.

She was a newsreader on Metro FM and presenter on SABC1’s talk show Daily Thetha at the time of her death. Shongwe was born in Soweto and started her radio career with YFM in 2010. She was known as a dynamic force in the media industry, a seasoned presenter and a passionate and career-driven person.

Government wishes to advise members of the media that due to unforeseen technical glitches, the dates for collecting accreditation ahead of the Presidential Handover of the Certificate of Recognition to AmaZulu King have changed.  The new dates are:

Media briefing on the state of readiness towards the ceremonial handover of the certificate of recognition to King Misuzulu Ka Zwelithini    

On the 27th October 2022, the Inter-Ministerial Task Team (IMTT) coordinating the preparations for the ceremonial handover of the  certificate of recognition to King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini will brief members of the media on the state of readiness towards this moment of great significance.
