Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) has noted aspersions cast by the Mail & Guardian on the department’s capability to deliver professional bulk buying services. These allegations are untrue and misleading.
For the record, the matter between StatsSA and GCIS regarding the advertising of the 2011 Census is currently before the court and subjudice. GCIS will therefore, not comment on this issue.

Government has learnt with great sadness and shock at the passing away of the Gauteng MEC for Economic Development, Mr Nkosiphendule Kolisile. Mr Kolisile was a Member of the Executive Council for Economic Development of the Gauteng Provincial Government.
Acting GCIS CEO and Cabinet Spokesperson, Phumla Williams said, “our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time of bereavement. Kolisile served our country with excellence, dignity and integrity and he will be sorely missed.
