Deputy Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will on Wednesday 10 September 2014 visit Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay, Bitou Municipality for a youth outreach programme. The Deputy Minister, in partnership with Land Bank and IT Master, will hand over computers to Murray High School. This initiative will enable the school and learners to join the information highway through access to information and learning resources.

South Africans watched in anger and disgust as Parliament, one of the most important pillars of our democratic state, which represents the aspirations of our democracy deteriorated into chaos during one of its sessions last week. South Africans must be reminded that Parliament is the cornerstone of our democracy and must be respected by all those who ascribe to democratic principles as enshrined in the Constitution.

September marks Heritage Month to celebrate and embrace the country’s historical inheritance, languages, diverse cultures, sacred sites, indigenous food and traditional art forms. The launch of Heritage Month that took place yesterday at Freedom Park saw diverse audiences, cultural groups and story tellers revelling and showing pride of their unique traditions.

The Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, will deliver an address at the 49th Anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Singapore. Alongside the High Commissioner of Singapore, HE Bernard Baker, Deputy Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams will represent the South African government as the Guest of Honour at this historic event.

Government congratulates the eThekwini Metro for scooping the Stockholm Industry Water Award and Professor John Briscoe of South Africa for receiving the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize. Government is equally proud of the learners from Taxila Secondary School in Polokwane, Limpopo who were finalists, at the global conference, against other learners across the globe for inventing a method that uses sand filters to treat contaminated water and recover water for reuse.

Government notes media coverage on the reported claims made by Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Kebby Maphatsoe that Advocate Thuli Madonsela is allegedly an agent of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The comments were reportedly made in his personal capacity and do not represent the views and position of the South African government.

Communications Minister Faith Muthambi praised Bafana Bafana as heroes for lifting the mood of South Africans following their away 3-nil win against Sudan in their 2015 Morocco Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matched played in Khartoum, Sudan on Friday night.
