Government congratulates the Department of Home Affairs for scooping the prestigious ICT Service Delivery Transformation Award for its automated booking system for its Refugee Reception Offices at the ICT Public Service Awards at GovTech 2016.

Government encourages all citizens to tune into their respective community radio stations to listen to the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) being delivered in Parliament. The MTBPS will also be broadcast live over a number of other mediums including SABC Channel 404, SABC 2, ANN7, eNCA, RSGFM, SAFM, IkwekweziFM, PowerFM and Radio702.
The Minister of Finance, Mr Pravin Gordhan will table the MTBPS on Wednesday 26 October 2016 at 14h00.

This is the first time South Africa is hosting the joint sitting of Africa Editors from across the African Continent as well as Press Officers under the AU banner.

The African Union Commission Chairperson, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will be hosting a joint sitting of Africa Editors Forum and Press Officers on the 24th and the 25th of October 2016, in Pretoria. The theme of the engagement is “Deepening Africa’s Narrative and Capacities to Deliver Agenda 2063”.

Government joins South Africa's media in commemorating the anniversary of Media Freedom Day known as "Black Wednesday" and commends the media industry in its role towards strengthening the country's democracy.
The South African media plays a critical role in shaping public discourse, equipping citizens with information and enabling public participation. It is through an informed and participative citizenry that, together with government, we continue to move South Africa forward.

Government calls on protesters to respect the law of the country. The upsurge of violence and destruction of property associated with student protests are criminal and unwarranted. There is no space for any type of violence at any of our institutions of higher learning or anywhere else. The only purpose they serve is to undermine the genuine struggles for access to quality higher education, which are supported by government.
