Government condemns the posting of fake and sarcastic information on challenges affecting South Africans and attributing them to political principals. These posts are intentionally false and are misleading readers and deter the country’s efforts to effectively address challenges experienced by South Africans.

South Africa is facing a gender-based violence and femicide epidemic that has reached worrying proportions. According to the latest report released by Statistics South Africa on gender based violence, 70 813 women experienced sexual offences in 2016/ 2017 as compared to 31 665 in 2015/2016. This is over hundred percent increase in violence against women and children.
Government has scheduled the following briefings/activities for the week: 29 October – 04 November 2018. The activities, which are aligned to the National Development Plan and outlined in the Medium Term Strategic Framework 2014-2019, are undertaken to build a better South Africa.
Members of the media who have applied for accreditation to cover the Presidential Summit on Gender-Based Violence taking place from 01 to 02 November 2018 are requested to collect their accreditation cards as per the details below:

The Inter- Ministerial Committee (IMC) on State Funerals led by Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma met on Wednesday, 24 October 2018 to discuss progress on the arrangements of the Special Official Funeral Category 1, for the late Mama Agnes Msimang who passed away at a Johannesburg hospital, last Thursday, 18 October 2018 at age 89.

Government welcomes the life imprisonment sentence handed over to Bishop Jabu Ndaba (52) by the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Ndaba, who is reportedly the leader of Trinity Apostolic Church, was charged with one count of rape of a minor who, along with her family, was a member of his church. He was found guilty of the crimes in July this year.
Cabinet met on Wednesday, 24 October 2018 at Tuynhuys in Cape Town.
