Government is deeply saddened by the death of renowned SABC sports analyst and former Sunday Times journalist, David Kekana. He passed away on Sunday after a long battle with diabetes. According to reports the memorial and funeral will be held at Rhema Bible Church North‚ Randburg‚ starting at 9am and is open to members of the public to attend.

Government conveys its deepest condolences to the family and friends on the passing away of journalist and ENCA Director of News Mr Ben Said.
eNCA announced that Said drowned while on holiday with his family in Mozambique on Monday afternoon.
Said was one of the country’s best television journalists having joined ETV during the channel’s early days and his loss to the country’s media industry will be felt.

Government has noted with concern reports of looting of foreign owned shops in Soweto. Government reiterates that such activities are unlawful and criminal in nature.
The Acting GCIS Director-General Phumla Williams said: “Government urges communities to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to co-operate with the law enforcement agencies. There can be no reason that justifies breaking the laws of our country. South Africa is governed by laws and will not tolerate anarchy.”
