Government arrangements for official funeral of late Deputy Minister Hlongwa

Preparations for the official funeral service of the late Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources, Bavelile Hlongwa are well underway.
President Ramaphosa declared an Official Funeral Category 2 in line with government’s State, Official and Provincial Funeral Policy. The President has further directed that the national flag shall fly at half-mast at every flag station in the country until the Deputy Minister is laid to rest.

Members of the media who wish to cover the funeral service of the late Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources, Bavelile Hlongwa are advised to apply for accreditation by completing the attached form in full.
The process of applying for accreditation opened yesterday, 17 September to Thursday, 19 September 2019. Members of the media who have successfully applied will be advised on the dates for collection of accreditation at a later stage.

On 17 September 2019, GCIS will host the Thusong Service Excellence Awards ceremony in recognition of public servants at Thusong Service Centres who have distinguished themselves in the execution of their duties.
The year 2019 marks 20 years since the existence of the Thusong Service Centre Programme which was initiated in 1999 as one of the access strategy aimed at redressing the imbalances of the past by taking services and information closer to the people.

Invitation to Stakeholder Consultations on the Gender Based Violence and Femicide Draft National Strategic Framework

The escalating number of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) cases in South Africa has prompted a call to action which was led by #TheTotalShutdown. The Presidential Gender- Based Violence and Femicide Summit sat on the 2nd November 2018 and produced a Declaration which entailed deliverables that must be taken forward and be implemented in dealing with the crisis of GBVF.
JCPS cluster briefs media on recent public violence
The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster Ministers will hold a media briefing on the recent incidents of public violence in different parts of South Africa.
The cluster will give progress on the work done thus far and also outline the plans that government is implementing to make sure that law and order is restored in the country.
