Government welcomes and congratulates Newzroom Afrika, a 24-hour news channel, which was launched on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-tv platform today.

Government is encouraged by the growing number of 24-hour news channels in the country, which further strengthens media diversity. The introduction of Newsroom Afrika will further shape public discourse on pertinent matters affecting our nation.

Accreditation for media to cover the 2019 Presidential inauguration ceremony extended to Sunday 28 April 2019

Members of the media wishing to cover the 2019 Presidential Inauguration ceremony are advised that the closing date for accreditation applications has been extended to midnight on Sunday, 28 April 2019.   Thereafter no new applications will be accepted.

Applications for accreditation are to be submitted by completing the online registration form under the link: https://www.gcis.gov.za/content/media-registration

Government congratulates South Africa’s first deaf Law graduate

Government sends warm congratulations to Eastern Cape-born Qobo Ningiza who will be South Africa’s first deaf law graduate when he graduates with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Cape Town today.

“Ningiza is an inspiration to many of us and serves as proof that if as individuals we focus on our abilities instead of focusing on the obstacles, we can achieve anything in life.

This year’s national Freedom Month celebration marks 25 years of Freedom and Democracy and comes shortly before the upcoming national and provincial elections on 08 May, in which all South Africans will be exercising their democratic right to vote. The month will be observed under the theme, “Celebrating 25 Years of Democracy”.
