As President of the G20, South Africa will host the first set of meetings of the grouping in December 2024 in Gauteng. The 1st Sherpas, Finance Deputies, and Central Bank Governors meetings will take place in Sandton, Johannesburg, from 09 – 12 December 2024. The National Launch of 16 Days of Activism for no Violence Against Women and Children will take place on the 25th of November 2024 at the Rustenburg Local Municipality, in the North West Province under the theme “30 Years of advancing collective action to end violence against women and children’’, the sub-theme for the campaign is “Harnessing technology and innovation to combat Gender-Based Violence and accelerate a gender inclusive digital economy”.

Government welcomes the latest data from Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), which shows a sharp decline in consumer price inflation (CPI) to 2.8% in October 2024, down from 3.8% recorded in September 2024. This marks the lowest inflation rate since June 2020, when the country experienced a rate of 2.2% during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Government welcomes the response by various stakeholders to implement the interventions to address the current outbreak of foodborne illnesses and illicit trade some of which have led to the unfortunate fatalities of children and hospitalisation of some especially in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Free State.

Government extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Jean-Jacques Cornish, a veteran journalist, editor, and authoritative commentator on African affairs, who has passed away.

1.1.1.  Cabinet was briefed on the food borne illnesses and fatalities recorded in various parts of the country, which have led to the tragic deaths of children and resulted in several hospitalisations in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State.

Minister in The Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, will brief members of the media on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting held  on 6 November 2024.
