Cluster media briefings: 5 - 8 August

Government will hold Cluster media briefings on the decisions taken at the recently held July Cabinet Lekgotla from 5 to 8 August 2008.

The purpose of the July Cabinet Lekgotla was to conduct a mid-year review of the implementation of government’s Programme of Action (PoA) and to adopt a Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF).

The briefings will take place at the Union Buildings, Room 153 and Imbizo Media Centre, 120 Plein Street, Cape Town.

Government will hold cluster media briefings on the implementation of the Government Programme of Action for 2008 in Pretoria from 30 June to 8 July 2008.

This will be the second cycle of media briefings for the year since the announcement of the programme through the State of the Nation Address.

The briefings will take place at the Union Buildings, Rooms 153 and 159. There will be a video link-up with Cape Town's Imbizo Media Centre, 120 Plein Street, Cape Town.

Pres Mbeki to deliver keynote address at National Women’s Day celebrations: 9 August

President Thabo Mbeki will address the 2008 National Women’s day celebrations to be held Ga-Motlatla Sport field, Motlatla village, near Lichtenburg in the North West.

The President will be accompanied by the Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, North West Premier Edna Molewa and Cabinet Ministers.

This year’s celebrations will be held under the theme Business Unusual: All Power to Women! which will highlight progress made in the emancipation and empowerment of women in South Africa.
