Government wishes to inform all members of the media that all Broadcast Media Stand-up positions at the FNB Stadium for the Memorial Service of the late former President Nelson Mandela have been allocated. However, government has made alternative arrangements for Broadcast Media stand-up positions outside the stadium next to the cooling tower.
Speaker: Joint media briefing to provide for updates on the funeral preparations - we are joined by the family and a team of ministers and the municipality mayor of the City of Johannesburg. I will quickly just give the names of the team that is joining me - we’ve got Minister Chabane who is going to make a presentation and a statement on the updates. He is supported by Ministers Peters and Minister Maite and we also have Mayor Parks from the City of Johannesburg. We also have General Matanzima who is representing the family and Mr Ndaba Mandela.

Government wishes to thank faith-based organisations and society at large for reflecting on the life of former President Nelson Mandela. Government also thanks the public for the decorum shown during this mourning period, and calls for the continuous display of dignity that will reflect our true national character.

Media are reminded to do online pre- registration first on http://m.gcis.gov.za/index.php, before proceeding to Nasrec Expo Centre to complete the live accreditation. Members of the media are advised that the media centre at the Nasrec Expo Centre will not be operational due to unforeseen delays. Media will be advised when the centre is operational.

Media are advised that the accreditation centre for the state funeral of former President Nelson Mandela will from Sunday, 08 December relocate to Nasrec Expo Centre and it will be operational from 08h30am.
Media should make use of Gate 2 and proceed to Hall 8 within the Nasrec expo centre, parking will be limited, media are advised to follow signage to identify the designated parking area.
