Members of the media who have applied for accreditation to cover the official funeral of Dr Richard Maponya are advised to collect their accreditation cards as follows:

President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Official Funeral Category 2 for esteemed business leader Dr Richard Maponya who will be buried on Tuesday, 14 January 2020 in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
Dr Maponya, widely respected as the doyen of black business, passed away on Monday 6 January 2020, a few days after celebrating his 99th birthday.
The President has directed that the National Flag fly at half-mast from Friday 10 January 2020 until the evening of the burial.

Today South Africans received the sad news of the passing away of struggle stalwart and hero of the liberation struggle Professor Ben Turok. Professor Turok was 92 years old when his family announced his passing today, 09 December 2019.
Professor Turok dedicated his life to the betterment of the people of South Africa and ensured that we enjoy the democracy we have today.

On Wednesday, 27 November, government will host a memorial service for the late King Zwelonke Sigcawu. Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event as follows:

Venue: East London Abbotsford Christian Centre in Eastern Cape.
The service is open to members of the public to attend and there is no accreditation required for members of the media.

Members of the media who wish to cover the funeral service of the late King Zwelonke Sigcawu are advised to apply for accreditation before the deadline of Wednesday, 27 November 2019.
King Sigcawu passed on in the morning of Thursday, 14 November 2019. President Ramaphosa has since declared that the King will be honored with a Special Official Funeral Category 1 with military honors. This is in line with government’s State, Official and Provincial Funeral Policy.

Government wishes to provide update on the preparation for the Official Memorial and Special Official Funeral of the late AmaXhosa King, Zwelonke Mpendulo Sigcawu who passed on in the morning of Thursday, 14 November 2019.
