Government on arrangements for Special Official Funeral service of late Justice Mthiyane

Government would like to advise the public about details pertaining to the Special Official Funeral of the late Justice Khayelihle Kenneth Mthiyane.  Justice Mthiyane passed on Thursday, 28 January 2021.  Following his passing, President Ramaphosa has honoured him by designating his funeral as a Special Official Funeral, Category 2.  

1.    Funeral
The Special Official Funeral Service of Justice Mthiyane will be held at Natal Sharks Board in Durban, KZN  on Wednesday, 03 February starting from 09h00. 

Justice Mthiyane will be laid to rest on the same day at Redhill Cemetery in Durban .

In keeping with the COVD-19 Alert Level 3 lockdown protocols currently in place, the number of funeral attendees will be kept to the maximum of 50 people.

Government encourages all  mourners who may not be able to physically attend the funeral to follow the proceedings on the following online platforms:
