South Africa moves to second gear in tackling GBVF collaboratively
In the past few months, the South African Government, together with partners including the private sector, trade unions and individuals from civil society and other development partners have been working hard to implement the National Strategic Plan (NSP) on Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF). This plan came as a result of the 1st National Summit on GBVF in South Africa in 2018.

At the conclusion of the 16 Days campaign for No Violence against Women and Children, Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Pinky Kekana will lead a dialogue on the importance of community involvement and accountability in the fight against gender-based violence and Femicide (GBVF). Government welcomes Pasile sentencing

Government welcomes the East London’s High Court sentencing of Alutha Pasile for the murder of law student Nosicelo Mtebeni. Pasile was sentenced to 25 years for Mtebeni’s murder and another 10 years for the charge of defeating the ends of justice. The country was shocked to hear about the abhorrent and brutal acts against Mtebeni during Women’s Month, and it brought to the fore horrific nature and violent crimes against women.
