Minister of Arts and Culture, Paul Mashatile will launch Freedom Friday to mark the lead up to South Africa celebrating 20 years of freedom and democracy in Soweto.
Government in conjunction with LeadSA encourage all citizens to use every Friday from 20 September until the end of December 2014 to celebrate the milestones of the country’s freedom.

Welcome to the Human Development Cluster media briefing, which provides a progress report on the targets we set ourselves since the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on 14 February 2013.
This Cluster leads three of the 12 Government Outcomes, namely:

Government will hold a series of quarterly Ministerial Cluster media briefings to inform citizens on progress made in the implementation of the 12 Outcomes and respective service delivery agreements.
On 18 September 2013, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga as the Chair will lead a panel of Human Development Cluster Ministers at the briefing.

1.1. Cabinet welcomes the launch of the Public Service Charter and commends public service unions and the State as the employer on the commitments made through this Charter. The Charter introduces service standards within the public service with public service unions pledging their commitment to support the service standards.

August 2013 marked another celebration of Women’s month under the theme; “A Centenary of Working Together towards Sustainable Women Empowerment and Gender Equality”. South Africans came together to celebrate the role women played in achieving democracy.
Women from the various strata of society were honoured for their contribution in their fight against gender inequalities

Government notes the number of strikes that are currently taking place across the country and calls on all workers to execute it non-violently. Employers and workers are encouraged to engage in meaningful dialogue and to speedily reach an agreement.
Acting GCIS CEO, Phumla Williams said, “Whilst every citizen has the constitutional right to protest, it must be done within the ambit of the law. Those that contravene the country’s laws will face the full might of the law.”
