Thank you for joining us this morning for the Governance and Administration post-State of the Nation Address (SoNA) Cluster media briefing. Today we outline progress made by government through this Cluster and provide more detail of the plans announced by the President during the recent SoNA to improve the lives of all South Africans.

15 February 2015

On Tuesday, 17 February at 08:30am, Governance and Administration (G&A) Cluster chaired by Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba will hold a media briefing on the implementation of the Government Programme of Action for the post State of the Nation Address 2015. The briefing will be held at Imbizo Media Centre, Cape Town with a link up to Tshedimosetso House (DOC), Pretoria.

Government dismisses a hoax statement which is going viral alleging that Eskom has notified government in a special meeting that the main grid could possibly crash and plunge South Africa into darkness for over two weeks.

The Minister enjoys a cordial and professional relationship with members of the departmental Exco, its Manco and all staff.  This has created an environment for frank but respectful conversations in which organisational strategy and performance can be discussed.  As the Executive Authority, the Minister has delegated specific powers and duties to the Director General, as required in Section 42A of the Public Service Act.

On 10 February 2015, the Film and Publication Board in conjunction with the Department of Communications, Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Digital You, Childline SA, Google, Media Monitoring Africa, SaveTNet and UNISA Youth Research Unit, will launch their Back-2-School campaign as part of Safer Internet Day commemoration.

Members of the media are invited to the launch, where they will be addressed by the CEO Mr Themba P Wakashe. The details of the launch are below.
