Government has noted with serious concern irresponsible claims that seek to suggest that Operation Fiela - Reclaim is targeted at foreign nationals living in South Africa. We would like to categorically and emphatically state that these claims are far from the truth.

1. Recent attacks on foreign nationals
1.1. Cabinet welcomes the peace and calm that has begun to prevail in communities that were affected by the recent attacks on foreign nationals. Cabinet commended the departments that worked through the National Joint Operation Centre to stop the acts of violence that took place in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

Government commends the swift action of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and members of the Alexandra community who assisted the police to arrest three suspects who are allegedly linked to the murder of Mozambican national Emmanuel Sithole. The police are still looking for the fourth suspect.
The events of the stabbing were captured by a Sunday Times photographer James Oatway who was on an assignment on Saturday.
