Government on improvements to Presidency properties

Government rejects suggestions that renovations to official residences and offices of the President of the Republic of South Africa are an extravagance or that they compromise social delivery.

Government is clear about the priorities facing the nation and invests appropriately in these priorities – with public works (the basis of a major job-creation drive), health and education together accounting for 70 percent of the national Budget.

Millenium Development Goals National Summit: 27-29 Sep

Ilitha Labantu Board with the support of Statistics South Africa will be hosting a national Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Summit will be held on the 27th to 29th of September 2011 in KwaZulu-Natal. This national summit is a result of the resolutions from the national summit held in 2010, Cape Town.

Accreditation for COP 17/CMP 7

This alert is to inform media that the UNFCCC secretariat will be introducing a new, fully online media accreditation and registration system. This system will allow each individual seeking media accreditation to create a personal account, enter personal data and upload required documentation. Status information on the requested accreditation will also be available through the system.

The secretariat has targeted the date of Thursday, 6 October 2011 to launch the new system.

Deputy Minister Pule to hand over donations from GCIS to Gift of the Givers: 30 Sep

Deputy Minister in The Presidency, Hon. Dina Pule, MP will hand over a consignment of donations that were collected by female employees at Government Communications (GCIS) to Gift of the Givers.

The items were collected to lend a helping hand in alleviating  the effects of the famine facing the people of Somalia.
