Statement on Cabinet meeting of 3 May

Cabinet has set up a high level Ministerial Team to devise measures to deal with the escalation of criminality in the country. Cabinet also appointed a committee to be chaire d by the Deputy President to coordinate all work around the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP). Other issues discussed in the Cabinet meeting include the remission of sentences, the upcoming WEF and SA's preparations for UN conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20).
