The Department of Communications provides strategic communication leadership and support in government communications to all of government and leads government communication through submitting a National Communication Strategy to Cabinet.

Strategic communication services, guidance, support and products are provided to government, the media and the public.

Strategic support: The Department of Communications provides strategic leadership and support with regard to planning and managing communication campaigns, communication research, advertising and media placement, marketing strategies, corporate identity management, design and exhibitions. The Department of Communications also assists in the distribution of government statements, documents and print products, media liaison and website development. An information enquiry service is provided, where government and government-related information can be obtained.

Products: The Department of Communications provides media monitoring, photographic, radio and video production services to government. The Department of Communications also maintains a database of contact information and profiles of government role-players.

The media sector can read more about The Department of Communications' support with the accreditation of foreign journalists, arranging access to government officials, BuaNews, media enquiries and providing government and Southern African Development Community (SADC)-related information.
