MAC Charter commits to prevention and awareness raising about GBVF

08 December 2023

The Marketing, Advertising and Communication (MAC) Charter Council calls on the industry to continue promoting awareness on gender based violence and femicide. The sector is influential in shaping society’s thoughts and ideas about gender roles and factors contributing to prevention of gender based violence and femicide.

“As leaders in the MAC sector we recognise that it is our responsibility to leverage our influence for positive change. GBVF is a pervasive problem affecting South Africans. As the MAC sector we are committed to using our platforms for driving awareness, education and action”, said Angelo Tandy, Chairperson of the MAC Charter Council.

In future the sector council will forge relationships with organisations dedicated to addressing GBVF. These collaborations will support initiatives that contribute to the MAC sector’s interventions in the prevention and awareness of impacts of GBVF in society.
