Government is saddened at the death of ANC members who were killed in a bus accident between Winburg and Ventersburg on Sunday morning. The ANC members were on their way back from the launch of the party’s election manifesto in Port Elizabeth.

Acting Director General, Donald Liphoko, said, “Government sends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their loved ones in the tragic accident and wishes all the injured a speedy recovery”.

Law enforcement agencies are working together with the Road Traffic Management Corporation in investigating the matter.

“Government calls on all South Africans to be cautious on the roads and avoid negligent behaviour. Motorists are encouraged to work together with government in reducing road fatalities and abide by the rules of the road”, said Liphoko.
