Government congratulates the Women’s cricket team for reaching the finals of the T20 World Cup. The South African team beat England by six runs to reach the T20 World Cup final.

“The woman’s cricket team has made us tremendously proud as a country. Their achievement is a further demonstration of our resilience as a nation. This is a show of our ability to compete and win on a world stage. As a nation we stand behind them and rally all South Africans to support them as they participate in the World Cup Final. We have no doubt that they are more than ready to lift the trophy”, said Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele.

The Women’s cricket team’s road to the final is a testament of  how sports can foster greater social cohesion, nation-building and a shared national identity. This is the South African spirit in action.  

Government would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all South Africans who have given their full support to the team.
