Government condemns the attack on the two couples, which resulted in one of the women being raped and the two men killed and thrown into the nearby lake. The attack by the gang of 12 men happened at the Rhodes Park in Kensington on Saturday evening whilst the couples were walking in the Park.

Acting Cabinet Spokesperson, Phumla Williams said, “This dreadful incident and other similar criminal activities should be condemned by all peace loving South Africans.  Working with society, government will do all in its power to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book”.

Government commends the speedy response by the law enforcement agency in recovering the two bodies of the men. Citizens are encouraged to work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure the perpetrators of this outrageous act are brought to justice.

Anybody with information that may assist with the arrest of the perpetrators of this crime should contact the police at 0860 10 111, said Williams.  Together we can make our places safe.
