Government Communications and SANEF host a memorial service for the late Thabo Masebe: 22 Apr

The Government Communication and Information System in partnership with Gauteng Provincial Government and South African National Editors Forum will host a Memorial Service in honour of the late Mr Thabo Masebe.

Mr Masebe believed in an integrated approach to government communication and spent years building the government communication system and sharing his knowledge and experience with up and coming government communicators. He contributed immensely to the cultivation of healthy working relations between the government and the media.

His career in public service and political communication spans over 20 years of serving both the national and Gauteng Provincial governments.  Amongst his many roles he worked as a Chief Director at GCIS; Spokesperson for former Gauteng Premier, Mbhazima Shilowa then Deputy President, Kgalema Motlanthe and Gauteng Premier, David Makhura. At the time of his passing, he was the Acting Director-General in the Office of the Premier and the Head of Communications for the Gauteng Provincial Government.

Masebe was a multi-skilled communicator, an activist who committed his life to serve the people of South Africa and humanity. He was known for his diligence and meticulous work ethic in all the roles he assumed as a public servant.

Government communicators and members of the media are invited to attend the memorial as per the details below:
