Invitation to attend the commemoration of Mama Albertina Sisulu Centenary Day
Government will on Sunday, 21 October 2018 celebrate what would’ve been MaSisulu’s 100th Birthday under the theme: Albertina Sisulu “A woman of fortitude”.
Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu was born on the 21st October 1918, in the village of Camama in the Eastern Cape. She dedicated her life to fight for the emancipation of women and the liberation of South Africa.
In recognising her courage, discipline, integrity and love for the country, government led by the Minister of Energy and Chairperson of the Centenary for both Albertina Sisulu and Nelson Mandela, Jeff Radebe will join the Sisulu family in commemorating the centenary day of the late struggle stalwart.

Part one: Wreath Laying
Time: 07:00 – 08:30
Venue: Croesus Cemetery in Johannesburg
Part two: Special Church Service
Time: 09h30 – 11:00
Venue: Holy Cross Anglican Church, Orlando West in Soweto
Minister Radebe will deliver a keynote address at the church.
Part three: Unveiling of the renovated crèche
Time: 11:30 – 12:00
Venue: Holy Cross crèche (located within the church premises)
Minister Radebe will officially unveil the plaque and give remarks.
The celebrations of the day will be concluded by a symbolic walk from MaSisulu home to Shanti Family Clinic where MaSisulu worked for many years with Dr Abu Baker Asvat. A stop will be made at Orlando West Children Library that was fully renovated and reopened by the Sisulu family.
