Government activities for week 11 to 17 Feb

Government has scheduled the following briefings/activities for the week: 11 to 17 February 2019. The activities, which are aligned to the National Development Plan and outlined in the Medium Term Strategic Framework 2014-2019, are undertaken to build a better South Africa.

From, 10 to 11 February, President Cyril Ramaphosa will attend the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of AU heads of state and government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he is leading a high-level South African delegation. The theme of the Session is: “The Year of Refugees, Returnees and International Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa”.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, will on Monday, 11 February, host female learners at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the low levels of female participation in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

On Tuesday, 12 February, the Statistician-General of South Africa, Mr Risenga Maluleke, will release the results of the Quarterly labour force survey (QLFS) for the fourth quarter of 2018. The media briefing will be held at GCIS, Tshedimosetso House, in Pretoria at 11h30, with a video link to Imbizo Media Centre, Parliament in Cape Town.
