Government welcomes dismissal of BMA officials

10 March 2026

Government welcomes  the  dismissal of over 50 officials  from the Border Management Authority over corrupt activities. The dismissal is part of taking additional steps to root out fraud and corruption at South Africa’s ports of entry.

Corruption undermines public trust, weakens institutions, and compromises the country’s security and economic stability. Government maintains a zero tolerance approach particularly in critical institutions responsible for safeguarding the nation’s borders.

The Border Management Authority plays a vital role in protecting the integrity of South Africa’s ports of entry, combating illegal activities, and facilitating legitimate trade and travel. Any actions by officials that undermine this mandate will be dealt with decisively and in accordance with the law.

Government reiterates that no individual is above the law. Public servants are entrusted with serving the people of South Africa with integrity, professionalism and accountability. Those who abuse public office for personal gain will face the full might of the law.
