Updating of Government's Programme of Action

03 May 2005

3 May 2005

Coinciding with a series of media briefings by government clusters on implementation of the Programme of Action for 2005, the programme published on the government web site is being updated on the basis of reports by clusters to Cabinet. The Cabinet finalised the reports at its meeting on 28 April.

The updated report on implementation is being published cluster by cluster, in accordance with the schedule of cluster media briefings.

The Programme of Action for 2005 is based on the decisions of the Cabinet lekgotla in January and the President’s State of the Nation Address in February. It includes activities from the Programme for 2004 which were not completed during 2004, either because they had longer timeframes or because of delays which are receiving attention in the new programme.

The publication of government’s programme of action was initiated in May 2004 when the newly elected government set out its programme. The report on implementation is updated in line with the two-monthly cycle of reporting by clusters to Cabinet.

This will allow the public to continue to follow progress in implementation of government’s programme. By keeping the public informed in detail of progress in implementation, this will promote conditions enabling all of society to work together to build a South Africa that truly belongs to all.
