Government’s media briefings for 20-26 October

Government wishes to advise members of the media about planned media briefings scheduled for the week of 20 – 26 October 2014. 

On Monday, 20 October at 09:00am, Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will brief the media about the appointment of a ministerial committee to investigate how the backlog of foster care applications and lapsed foster care orders can be addressed within the confines of the law, also taking into consideration the best interest of the children as demanded by the Children’s Act. The briefing will be held at Tshedimosetso House (DOC), Pretoria with a link up to Imbizo Media Centre, Cape Town.

On Tuesday, 21 October at 14:00, National Director of Public Prosecutions, Mxolisi Nxasana, will brief the media about the post-portfolio committee meeting regarding NPA annual report and budget, including all pertinent issues arising from the meeting. The briefing will be held at Imbizo Media Centre, Cape Town, with a video link up to Tshedimosetso House (DOC), Pretoria.

On Thursday, 23 October at 10:00, Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe, will lead a Post Cabinet media briefing. The briefing will be held at Imbizo Media Centre, Cape Town with a link up to Tshedimosetso House (DOC), Pretoria. He will brief on the decisions taken by Cabinet which will be held on 22nd October.

On Friday 24th October the President will host the Presidential Business Working Group at the Presidential Guest House. Ministers Jeff Radebe and Rob Davies and the leadership of BUSA and BBC will have a media briefing after the meeting.

Additional to these media briefings there are a number of public events that will be attended by various Ministers.  The details of the events are posted on the respective government websites.

All members of the media are advised that the above information regarding the details of the media briefings is subject to change. However, the Department of Communications (DOC) will continue to update the media through media advisories.
