Government’s media briefings for 13-19 October

Government wishes to advise members of the media about planned media briefings scheduled for the week of 13 – 19 October 2014. 

On Wednesday, 15 October at 12:30pm, Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe and Minister of Environmental affairs, Edna Molewa, will brief the media about the outcome and way forward of Operation Phakisa after the Presidential launch of Operation Phakisa Open Day. The briefing will be held at Durban ICC.

On Thursday, 16th October at 08:00am, Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu will brief the media at the first day of the Human Settlements Indaba. Minister Sisulu will host the National Human Settlements Indaba and Exhibition on Thursday and Friday, 16-17 October. The Indaba seeks to review the progress made in the implementation of the Breaking New Ground policy signed in 2004 and review the Social Contract for Rapid Housing Delivery signed in 2005. The briefing will be held at the Sandton Convention Center.

On Sunday, 19th October at 10:00am, Chairperson of the International Coorperation, Trade and Security Cluster and Minister of Telecommunications, Siyabonga Cwele will lead a panel of Ministers at a briefing on the cluster’s priority programmes and achievements to date. The briefing will be held at Tshedimosetso House (GCIS), Pretoria with a link up to the Imbizo Media Centre, Cape Town.

Additional to these media briefings there are a number of public events that will be attended by the various Ministers.  The details of the events are posted on the respective government websites.

All members of the media are advised that the media briefings are subject to change. However, the Department of Communications (DOC) will continue to update the media through its advisories.
