Zukiswa Potye

Zukiswa (Zuki) Potye is a Chief Director responsible for corporate planning, risk management and performance monitoring and evaluation, at the GCIS. She has 24 years’ work experience from both the private and public sectors. Zuki has proven record in establishing and/or re-engineering internal processes, systems, functions and policies for improved performance results.

Zuki’s career began in 1992 as a filing clerk in a law firm in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. For a further eight years, she pursued a career in administration at institutions such as Standard Bank of SA Ltd, University of Fort Hare and Vista University.

In 2001 Zuki was appointed as a Programme Coordinator at the National Electricity Regulator (now NERSA).  Between 2001 and 2004, she assisted with the coordination of the development of strategic and business plans. She drove the implementation and institutionalisation of the project management discipline throughout the NER. In May 2004, she joined Blue IQ as Director: Monitoring and Evaluation. At Blue IQ, Zuki introduced and entrenched a culture of reporting on projects.

She tracked, monitored and reported progress on Blue IQ’s eleven infrastructure projects, including the Gautrain, Kliptown Urban Regeneration, Newtown, the Innovation Hub, Dinokeng, the Cradle of Humankind, the Automotive Supplier Park projects, and others.

Prior to joining GCIS in 2007, Zuki was with Transnet’s Group Communications, responsible for Corporate Affairs.
She holds a Master of Commerce degree, an Advanced and Postgraduate Diplomas in Project Management from Cranefield College. Her additional qualifications include a Certificate in Management Advancement Programme (MAP) from Wits University and another Certificate in Life and Business Coaching.
This certificate is recognized by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She is currently busy with a certificate in Applied Risk Management through the University of South Africa.
