Namakwa Special Economic Zone

Starting a successful industrial business has been made easier through the country’s Special Economic Zones (SEZ). These zones offer companies a head start in growing their operations and ensuring their investments are successful.

Business that set up operations within our SEZ receive lucrative incentives such as a preferential corporate tax rate, employment tax incentives and tax support on greenfield investments. They also have access to various support services such as customs controlled areas.

SA automotive sector

South Africa has cemented its position as a global player in the auto manufacturing sector with its own home-grown automotive components supplier opening its doors. Last year Batyi Automotive Component Supply (BACS) opened its new facility in Pretoria.

BACS manufactures vehicle components for the Ford Motor Company. The company emerged from an incubation centre that supports black suppliers to be independent and globally competitive. The new facility employs 60 people and there are plans to bring in young trainees to further develop their skill sets.

State hand in driving industry paying off

Every new factory that opens its doors in the country is a reason for celebration. It means more jobs and a greater demand for support services such as transport, maintenance and security.

A product manufactured in South Africa advances our industrialisation. Through the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP), the government has promoted long-term industrialisation and industrial diversification.
