New government communication unit standards


Six new draft government communication unit standards have been compiled. Any comments and/or recommended changes can be send to Leah Madalane by 25 August 2003.

Following this, changes will be made as required, and the final drafts will be presented as part of the qualifications that are being developed. The workshop on Qualifications in Public Service Communication Practices will take place on 18 and 19 September 2003 in Pretoria.

The six new draft unit standards to be commented on are:

These new unit standards have been added to the existing list of unit standards with the following titles:

  • 1. Develop Government communication policies ,strategies and processes
  • 2. Apply government communication processes and assess communication effects
  • 3. Direct, co-ordinate and conduct research into government communication
  • 4. Establish, develop and manage media relationship to promote the policies of government
  • 5. Develop and produce information products for government
  • 6. Develop and manage government communication campaigns
  • 7. Formulate and co-ordinate government communications programmes
  • 8. Manage government communication processes and strategies
