- The ministerial media briefings scheduled for the week 23 February to 11 March, provide an opportunity for the various lead departments and clusters to further elaborate and outline the various outcomes and targets, against the allocations presented in the national budget.

National Fly the Flag Day – 2 March 2010
Gear up for the 100 day countdown to the 2010 FIFA World Cup™
Government, FIFA, the Organising Committee, host cities, South African Tourism, the International Marketing Council of South Africa (Brand South Africa), the SABC and all partners in the public and private sectors will mobilise South Africans in this celebration.
The 100 Days landmark provides an avenue for South Africans to extend our warm African spirit in welcoming fans and visitors during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
- This landmark is being used to profile the “Fly the Flag” initiative, which encourages South Africans to fly the flag and learn the national anthem.
- This celebration will unite the efforts of “Team South Africa” as the international community and FIFA family converge on African soil for the first time for the World Cup 2010.
- The 2010 World Cup presents an opportunity for all South Africans to celebrate our diverse arts and culture through our culinary tastes, dance, music and other creative activities in building a cohesive nation.
- In addition, Football Fridays remain a fun and simple way for everyone in South Africa and abroad to participate in the exciting build-up to the World Cup and for us to demonstrate support for Bafana Bafana.

- The Final Draw of the World Cup provided the world with a strong sense of the passion, flair and professionalism with which South Africa is preparing for the first FIFA World Cup on African soil.
- The success of this World Cup is also attributed to all the men and women who worked on World Cup projects.
- The World Cup expedited the implementation of major infrastructure projects in line with our objectives of ensuring that we improve the quality of life of all South Africans.

Plan to create 2,5 million jobs
An estimated 825 706 direct and 2,5 million indirect jobs could be created over the next 10 years through the successful implementation of South Africa's now much-vaunted Industrial Policy Action Plan, the second round of which would run from 2010/11 to 2012/13.

Call centre opens for 2010 tickets
The FIFA World Cup ticketing subcommittee opened a call centre to assist soccer fans who want buy tickets for the 2010 World Cup. The call centre is available on 083 123 2010 from within South Africa and on +41 44 583 2010 from outside South Africa and operates from 10:30 until 19:30, South African time.

Air-traffic tracking system
South Africa is one of the first countries in the world to introduce the multilateration radio tracking system for air-traffic tracking and control. The system is now installed at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport and at Cape Town International Airport, and is in the process of being fitted at other airports.
