Acting President Kgalema Motlanthe and surgen General Dr Vejay Ramlakan (uniform) at the Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg. Acting President Motlanthe briefly met former President Nelson Mandela who was admitted to the hospital to treat a respiratory problem and for routine check up. Acting President Motlanthe addressed a media briefing to assure the South African public and the international community at large that Mr Mandela has been discharged from the hospital and will receive further treatment at home in Houghton.
