South Africans unite in celebration of Freedom Day

Giyani is expected to be abuzz with activity tomorrow, 27 April 2016 as the country celebrates National Freedom Day.

This day serves as a platform to promote unity and a common agenda of building a united and prosperous South Africa. Government calls on all South Africans to celebrate this day by joining activities planned in their communities and hoist the South African flag high.

South Africans are socially diverse, yet are united by their love for the country and its national heritage.

Acting Director-General of GCIS, Donald Liphoko said, “We must jealously guard the gains of democracy and continue to build on the fruits of our freedom. Our society is built on the values of democracy, equality and respect for all”.

The President of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma will lead the main Freedom Day celebration event in Giyani, Limpopo. 
South Africans residing in and around Limpopo are encouraged to attend the event and listen to the President as he delivers the keynote address.
