Media Advisory: President Mbeki visits Mpumalanga as part of the Government Imbizo Programme

President Thabo Mbeki will hold a two-day Imbizo from Saturday 21 June 2008 to Sunday 22 June 2008, at Ehlanzeni District Municipality in Mpumalanga Province.

The President will be accompanied by the following ministers:

Ronnie Kasrils, Mosiuoa Lekota, Alec Erwin, Dr Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, Bridgette Mabandla, Buyelwa Sonjica, Lulu Xingwana and Thoko Didiza, as well as senior officials in the Presidency.

This visit by President Mbeki forms part of government’s Imbizo Programme aimed at promoting government interaction with communities across the country.

The first day will be dedicated to reports from the province on the state of socio- economic transformation and social delivery, district reports on progress attained thus far in creating a better life for the communities, and progress reports on 2010 projects.

The second day will see President Mbeki, Premier Thabang Makwetla and the Executive Mayors attending a community Imbizo at KaMhlushwa stadium in Nkomazi Municipality, after visiting various projects in the area.
